Judging by what you've said, you are not at fault for the accident. BUT, you left the scene of an accident. That invalidates any claim of innocents or no-fault. And that's how the judge is going to see it. Happens all the time. The judge is going to say that you should have pull over as soon as you felt something (like to pot=hole sound). Or at least pulled over when the lady started to follow you. And not giving any story, ANY story to the police officer doesn't help. It only compounds the issue. If you go into the court without a lawyer, that would be another mistake. The case is not going to be dismissed because the other lady knows that you left the scene, (which hurts your defense), and she's looking for the court to find you guilty of something, Anything. Why? She doesn't want your money. She wants some of your insurance company money. The guilty verdict, the hospitalization, all work for her. Find out if your insurance company is going to interpose a defense for you. They usually do. They know what the lady is up to and want to avoid paying more money. In the event that they are not, get your own lawyer. If you go into court without a lawyer, you're going to be mauled. If no lawyer, ask for a postponement. Reason: you need more time to get a lawyer. They'll give you the postponement. You're entitled to three delays. Good Luck.
